What is Social Networking

A Social Networks basically allows networks to be visible. Bob knows Sarah, Sarah knows Joe, and Joe knows…..etc. This video brings out how Social Networks allow for better collaboration among the workplace, personal relationships, and for organizations. It stresses that the power of the network is really making your connections known.

Main Points of the Video

  • Increase Sales by Collaborating with Customers
  • Brings People Together to Share, Complain, Improve, Celebrate, etc…
  • Forces Businesses & Consumers to “Think Differently”
  • Small Businesses Increase & ‘Stir Up’ Industries.
  • Large Companies Still Benefit

Great points are brought out on how rating, commenting, and customer reviews can dramatically shape a company. Internet business owners can become better at what they do by allowing consumers to give their honest opinion; that is if they listen.

WebBizIdeas has been part of beta launches that failed. We had to go back to the drawing board on many projects in order to get them just right. Each time we have benefited greatly from the experience by listing to the community and making changes; making the website perfect for them.

The video also brings out the great point, “Social networks allow customers to find exactly what they want.” Not only do I think that is true but it can also be phrased, “Social Networks allow Businesses to find exactly what they want to offer.”

Pets.com is a perfect example of how a business used this new technology to form new ways to extract information from their customers. Pets.com is owned by PetSmart, a leader in pet food & supplies. It has been reported that they monitor the community to find what their customers like, dislike, and want.  What a great idea. Give your customers (real people) a way to express themselves and earn instant market research.
