A great promotional technique to any business (online or off line) is witting & publishing a press release.  I tell my clients to (1) make sure your news is actually newsworthy (2) write for the media (3) include back links to your website.  When I write & submit a press release I think creatively, consider the bloggers, and use my press release to create deep links to products or services I am promoting.
